Forklift Fundamentals

Forklift Fundamentals began as a contract for the US Air Force in 2020 that was eventually converted into a general forklift safety training app for HumuloVR customers. It features 9 chapters on a variety of safety topics and ultimately laid the groundwork for HumuloVR. During this project, several packages were built that have been maintained and remain in use today throughout most HumuloVR projects. Developed and deployed on Oculus Quest 2 and Pico Neo 2 and 3. Interactions made using Unity XR Toolkit.

My first contribution to the project was a generic lever object that could be repurposed for all the interactions in the driver's seat (aside from the steering wheel).

During development, users would grab the wheel and make big sweeping turning motions which didn't align with the scale of the in-app wheel. To counter this, a simple UI element was made that keeps their steering angle easily in view.

Implemented lifting mechanics. Forklift forks rely on a series of raycasts to attach/detach boxes accordingly.
